Last Saturday Jacque spoke about how excited she is about moving into Wolf Creek Lodge cohousing in Grass Valley, CA.

Last Saturday (May 21st) at the membership meeting, Suzanne talked about her history with the Lodge and why she is excited about her membership.

In a time of sweeping funding cuts to senior services—the recent federal budget belt-tightening cut 23.5 percent from the Community Development Block Grants program which funds many senior programs—the message is becoming clear that we need to take aging into our own hands. And we’d better hurry because the number of seniors is about to skyrocket. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 1990 there were 31 million Americans over 65. In 2009 there were 39 million. By 2050, the senior population is expected to double to 79 million, which raises the question: if we can’t afford to support seniors now, what will we do then?

The members of Wolf Creek Lodge will give you an introduction presentation and discussion about what it means to become a member of adult cohousing and then treat you to a yummy potluck.

On Thursday evening at 6:30 PM Nevada City Architect Katie McCamant and members of Wolf Creek Lodge will host an presentation about cohousing in general and Wolf Creek Lodge specifically. Members of the Lodge will talk about their individual experiences and why they’ve decided to downsize and move to this walkable, sustainably-built neighborhood. This first phase is being built as we speak and there are only a few homes available in this increduable community. Join us and learn what a special place and group of people we are!
