Wolf Creek Lodge, a new cohousing development under construction in Grass Valley, is being created by a group of seniors who want to create their own unique life style for the second half of their lives.

We call it aging-in-community.

The three-story lodge, designed by local award-winning architectural firm McCamant and Durrett, includes 30 fully-equipped, private homes and extensive common areas, creating the perfect balance of independent living and community interaction. Incorporating many sustainable features, our community will exceed the most stringent California guidelines for green, energy efficient homes by 35 percent.

Twenty-two of the 30 homes have committed buyers, including Butch and Virginia Thresh who now own a home on 15 acres off Bitney Springs Road in Nevada City. Both are bicycle enthusiasts, with Butch typically riding 75 miles a week. He taught special education at an alternative high school in Nevada City before retiring.
