Sierra Hiking Season

Wolf Creek Lodgers are active hiking the trails around Grass Valley and Nevada City.  For variety the great hiking trails close to Donner Summit are less than an hour’s drive from Wolf Creek Lodge.  At this time of the year hikers are asking if the trails are open or are they still obstructed by the remaining snow from winter.   We think most still have snow.  However, if you travel further towards Reno and the Mount Rose area there are great trails that are free of snow.  The picture below was taken today and shows the future resident of Home 9D pausing above Dry Pond with Slide Mountain (aka Mt. Rose Ski Area) in the background. The Dry Pond trail is one of several in the Jones, Whites and Thomas Creeks area.
