March 1, 2012

As you can see from our many articles on travel and community involvement, we are an active bunch. Our larger community of Nevada County is also a place of activism. Recently, a delegation of over 100 people from Nevada County caravanned on the “Yuba Express” to the State Capitol and hand-delivered over 10,000 letters and petition signatures to Governor Jerry Brown. (Wolf Creek Lodge members, such as Gail Bakker, were among the signers.) They were greeted at the Capitol by Resource Secretary John Laird, who announced that the State will keep the South Yuba State Park open! For more information on the “Save Our Yuba State Parks” campaign visit http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=496 and http://yubariver.org/.
